Jiugui Liquor Co., Ltd., together with other liquor enterprises in Xiangxi Prefecture, strives to be the “leader” in revitalizing Hunan liquor, and develops the world characteristic liquor producing area into an international famous brand.

Song Shuyu, president of China Alcoholic Drinks Association, said that from the main factors affecting the microbial environment of liquor making, such as temperature, humidity, water quality and ecology, Xiangxi is one of the producing areas suitable for brewing liquor in China, and is also a Chinese liquor valley.

Hunan liquor culture is an important part of Hunan civilization. National treasures of drinking vessels like Four-ram Zun and pig-shaped copper zun are all witnesses to the long history of Hunan liquor culture.

In 2002, 38,000 bamboo slips from the Qin Dynasty were unearthed from the No.1 Ancient Well at the Liye Ancient Town Site of Longshan County. Among them, 24 slips recorded information about liquor culture such as manners and rules of drinking, confirming that the brewing technique had been used in the Youshui River basin of Chu State during the Warring States period, which was 2,200 years ago.

Fragrant liquor is one of the eleven fragrant white liquor types which meet the national standards in China. On the basis of inheriting Xiangxi’s folk brewing skills, fragrant liquor has 173 complex producing processes.

Xiangxi Prefecture takes the liquor industry as the dominant industry for enriching the people and strengthening the prefecture. It continuously improves the modern industrial system, and helps integrate Xiangxi’s liquor industry with other industries, in a bid to create a millennium-old liquor tourism experience holy land, and spur the development of Xiangxi’s liquor industry.
